# Licence and devices

> How sign-in, devices, the trial and the licence work, and what happens offline.

This page describes how sign-in, devices and the licence work. It is not the software licence agreement or the terms of sale; those are in the [Terms](https://beta.llmgraph.in/terms/).

## Signing in and adding a device

The closed beta is invite-only, and you sign in with Google. A computer is added to your account in four steps:

1. Run the install command from [Set up with your agent](https://beta.llmgraph.in/docs/start.md). The first time an agent calls LLMGRAPH, the program prints a sign-in link and a short confirm code. In a terminal you can also run the login command yourself.
2. Open the link in your browser and sign in with Google.
3. Check that the confirm code on the page matches the code the program printed.
4. Approve the device. Approving your first device is also where you are told about the telemetry described on the [Privacy](https://beta.llmgraph.in/privacy/) page; usage counts and crash reports can be switched off at any time.

A device is tied to your account by a key that stays on that computer. The account page lists your devices, when each was last seen, and lets you remove one.

## Devices and limits

Your plan allows 2 devices at the same time. To add another, release one on the account page. Releasing and removing devices is limited in the beta, and the account page shows how many releases you have left.

## The trial

A new account can have one trial of 7 days. It is once per account: signing in again with the same account does not start another one. If the trial was used already, the program says so and points you to the account page.

## How the licence works

A licence is a short-lived signed permit tied to one device. It lasts 6 hours and the program renews it about every 30 minutes while it is running. Renewal is where the licence service checks that your subscription or trial is active. The renewal also carries the telemetry described on the [Privacy](https://beta.llmgraph.in/privacy/) page. No code or answers are involved.

## Working offline

If the program cannot reach the licence service, it keeps working until the licence it already holds runs out, no later than 6 hours after the last renewal. After that, queries stop until the connection is back. Reading and editing your code in your editor is not affected. A released device stops working when its current licence runs out, because it cannot renew. A cancelled subscription also keeps working until the current licence runs out.

## Cancelling and refunds

How cancelling works and what is refunded are set out in the [Terms](https://beta.llmgraph.in/terms/). This page does not restate them.

## If something does not work

Every message your agent can show about the licence, with what to do, is on the [messages](https://beta.llmgraph.in/docs/messages.md) page.
